A Successful First Week

Welcome 4th Grade Students and Parents,

This week has been full of excitement.  It's been a great start to the school year.  We've been spending time getting to know one another and building our community.  For those who haven't been able to meet me, I am Carlin Jacobs.  You may hear your child call me Ms. J.  I will be you math teacher this year.  I graduate from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2011 with my degree in Elementary Education.  I am new to the FLE family and already feel welcomed by the students, parents, faculty, and staff.

If you have been in my classroom, you would probably guess that my favorite color is pink.  Yes, I am the one with the pink classroom, but it is tolerable.  I am a mother of a precious 2 year old.  Her name is Maleah.
I am originally from Shreveport, Louisiana so I am definitely a LSU and New Orleans Saints fan.  I am looking forward to football season.  I am a product of Richland 2 since I attended and graduated from Spring Valley High School.  There I played softball and still have a love for the sport.

I am so excited to get this year going and helping your child be successful.

First Day!

The first day went very smoothly.  Everyone worked on building a cohesive community and got a chance to learn more about me.  Today, my homeroom (Block 1) was with me all day.  Tomorrow and Friday will be a little different.  My homeroom will check in with me and then go to activity.  For the remainder of the day, I will have Block 2 and Friday I will have Block 3.  This means your child will spend the majority of their day with another teacher.

Next week will be a normal schedule of switching.  If you haven't already, don't forget about school fees and lunch money.  Also, please make sure those school supplies come in.  Thank you to the ones who already have.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the week.   Have a great evening!

First Day Jitters...

Let the countdown begin!!!  School is only 8 days away and I'm excited!  I'm so ready to meet my students and their wonderful parents.  I am fervently preparing my classroom trying to make it just right for my students.  I want the students to feel welcomed and at home when they step into my room.

There's so much to do in so little time, but I am confident that everything will get done.
