Math Homework 11/6
Good afternoon parents and students. I was out sick yesterday for half the day but I am back. Students who are in my 1st Math Block have to explain how to answer a word problem we completed in class. A copy of the word problem was sent to them via email so have them check their email. Math Blocks 2 and 3 will have their Math test tomorrow. The math test is on Addition and Subtraction of Multi-Digit Numbers. We are starting a new unit. I will send out a parent letter tomorrow about the objectives and standards for the unit.

Math Homework Policy:
Many parents have asked about my policy on homework in terms of grades. Homework is extra practice for the student. I do not grade homework on the basis of understanding. I grade depending on completion. Please encourage your child to complete homework in its entirety. If your child turns in incomplete work I will grade it as such. They have the opportunity to resubmit the homework assignment for full credit. I will not continually ask if they will resubmit as that is their responsibility. I would prefer the student to attempt to answer all questions on the homework so that they can be prepared to participate in class discussions and voice their misunderstanding. This also gives me the opportunity to view where they are missing key information so that I can reteach if necessary.

Math Reminders for the Week 10/21
In math we are working on Rounding as well as adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers. If you checked your child's agenda you may have seen alot of information for the week.
Moby Max lessons have been assigned to students and need to be completed by Friday. I will take the highest two grades for the gradebook. They have time in class to work on the lessons and are able to do so at home. A username and password was sent home in Family Folders a few weeks ago.
Math Notebooks will be checked on Friday as well. Your child will have time to update their notebooks and make sure they have dates and titles for the lessons. If assignments are missing it is the child's responsibility to input the information themselves. They need to see me for work missing due to an absence.
On Friday we will also have a quick rounding quiz so they need to make sure they are practicing rounding.
Here are a few helpful links for tonight's homework as well as rounding.

Homework 10/13
There will be a math test on Wednesday, October 15. Please make sure your child is studying. They can get 2 extra points on test day for having their study guide signed by you. They must have their study guide on test day. (Sorry. Can't give credit if it's not at school.)The study guide is only a guide of concepts that will be on the test. Similar questions will be on the actual test. Your child can use their math notebooks and homework as a resource for extra help. Any further questions please feel free to email me carjacobs@richland2.org.

This Week in Math
Moby Max is a program that we are using in Math as well as ELA. A letter with your child's log in was sent home today. After homework is completed or if you believe your child needs extra practice, have them go onto Moby Max to "sharpen their saw". Your child took a placement test so that the program would give them customized lessons to complete. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Tonight's Homework
Your child has received a homework packet of Lesson 6-9. They are only responsible for completing Lesson 6-8 as of today. Ms. Jacobs' homeroom is the only class that is up to Lesson 8 so everyone else is not required to do Lesson 8. Here is some videos to help with each assignment.
I hope these links help you.
